Privacy policy
We collect as little as possible. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are
Home Energy Guide Hub (“we”, “us”) publishes educational guides and calculators at homeenergyguidehub.com. Contact us about privacy at Please use the contact form or through our contact page.
Information we collect
- Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, we receive your email address and the language you signed up in.
- Technical data from hosting. Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Settings stored in your browser. Your theme choice, privacy choice, recent searches, checklist progress and selected state are stored in your own browser (local or session storage). They are not sent to us. See our cookie policy.
We do not collect information through the calculators. Numbers you type stay in your browser; they appear in the page address only if you choose to share a link to your results.
- Spam protection. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused check that tells people from bots. It loads only when you use a form and processes technical signals (such as browser and IP information) to decide. We also use a hashed, short-lived counter of form attempts per network address to stop abuse; the address itself is not stored.
How we use information
- To answer your messages and handle correction or privacy requests.
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and to stop sending it when you unsubscribe.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.
Analytics
We do not currently run analytics. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, it will load only after you choose “Allow analytics” in the privacy banner, and this policy and the cookie policy will be updated to name the provider.
Service providers
We use service providers to host the site (Cloudflare) and to receive and store form submissions and newsletter sign-ups on our behalf. They may only use the information to provide services to us.
How long we keep information
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after the conversation ends, then deleted, unless we need them to document a correction.
- Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we do not email you again.
- Hosting logs: kept by Cloudflare under its own retention practices.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA) and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We honor these requests for all US readers, regardless of state. We also honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sale or sharing, although we do not sell or share data.
To make a request, use our data request page. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS everywhere and limit who can access form submissions. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, account numbers or tax documents through our forms.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Significant changes will be noted at the top of the page.
