Accessibility statement

What we do

• Readable by default. Body text is at least 17px on phones and 18px on larger screens, with generous line spacing and a comfortable line length. We use Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision.
• Strong contrast. Text colors meet at least WCAG AA contrast in both light and dark themes, and body text aims for AAA (7:1). We test every color pair automatically.
• Light, dark or system theme. Choose the theme that is easiest for you from the header.
• Keyboard friendly. Every menu, search panel, form and calculator works with a keyboard. A “Skip to main content” link appears first, and focus is always visible.
• Screen readers. We use semantic headings, labeled form fields, live regions that announce calculator results, and text alternatives for images.
• Mobile. Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels, every overlay has a visible close button, and pages work from 320px wide and at 200% zoom.
• Little motion. The site has almost no animation, and it respects your device’s reduced-motion setting.

Why there is no accessibility widget

We chose not to add a floating accessibility overlay. Your browser and device already provide zoom, text size, high contrast and screen reading tools that work better and more consistently, and our pages are built to work with them.

Known limitations

• Some linked government and program websites are not under our control and may not be fully accessible.
• Hero images are illustrations; their descriptions are provided as alt text and captions.
